Media coverage regarding Extraordinary Council Meeting on 14 May

There has been recent media coverage regarding a public excluded agenda item from the Extraordinary Council Meeting held on Wednesday, 14 May 2025.

The information in the relevant report is subject to legal professional privilege under section 7(2)(g) of the Local and Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987.

This information has been leaked and some of the contents of the report is now in the public domain. This disclosure is a breach of Council’s public excluded meeting processes and a breach of confidence and legal privilege.

Council is taking this matter very seriously and commencing an investigation into this incident. Given the public interest in this matter, Council has agreed to confirm that it decided at this Extraordinary meeting not to accept a proposed settlement agreement on this matter.

Council will not comment any further on this matter, pending legal proceedings.
