Man diving into rubbish waste

Introduction

Why is rubbish a problem? Locally based writers and artists of Te Hā o Ngā Pou and mana whenua involved in restoration and revitalisation have collaborated to demonstrate ways to think about waste through visual arts, poetry and waiata, tracking the journey of rubbish from households in Te Awa Kairangi ki Uta to the landfill in Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai.

This work creatively bridges the distance between the community and the place where our rubbish ends up, rejecting the systems that don't allow us to properly value and revere the resources that come from Papatūānuku - as well as seeking to restore our whakapapa connections to place / whenua.
