Book a community noticeboard

Upper Hutt has eight community noticeboards available for promoting local notices and events across the city:

  • Six wooden noticeboards in different locations around Upper Hutt
  • Two digital noticeboards; one on Gibbons Street and one on Fergusson Drive in Silverstream

Key information about using our noticeboards

  • Bookings are free, but you must cover any design and/or printing costs.
  • Use of the community noticeboards is subject to confirmation by Upper Hutt City Council.
  • As the booking holder, you are responsible to comply with the terms and conditions (see below).
  • If you book to use the wooden noticeboards, you are responsible for installing and removing your sign. You must be available to remove it by 5pm on the confirmed end date of your booking. If the confirmed end date falls on a weekend, you must remove it by 9.30am on the immediate Monday.

Terms and conditions

  • Bookings are subject to availability.
  • Upper Hutt City Council events take priority for noticeboard use.
  • Use of the noticeboards is exclusively for community notices and events in Upper Hutt; not for commercial advertising.
  • Upper Hutt City Council reserves the right to decline bookings or remove signage at any time and for any reason.
  • Approved bookings are allowed a maximum of 14 days of use, or as specified in your booking confirmation email.
  • You must submit your artwork for approval at least 10 working days before the confirmed start date of your booking.
  • If you don't submit your artwork by the deadline, your booking may be released to the community.
  • As the booking holder, you accept responsibility to comply with these terms and conditions, including installation and removal of your artwork.

Design and installation requirements

All community noticeboards in Upper Hutt are close to the roadside. The New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) sets guidelines for roadside signage, to make sure that signs are safe, clear, and easy to understand.

Before you book, please read the design and installation requirements below.

Digital noticeboards

Your digital artwork must meet the following design requirements:

  • dimensions: 384 pixels (width) and 240 pixels (height)
  • resolution: 72 dpi
  • word / character limit: 8 words or 40 characters
  • text size: 24 pixels or larger

When your artwork has been approved, we will upload and schedule it for display on the digital noticeboards, as per the dates in your booking confirmation email.

Wooden noticeboards

Your printed artwork for the wooden designs must meet the following design requirements:

  • dimensions: 2 metres (width) by 1.4 metres (height)
  • word / character limit: 8 words or 40 characters
  • text size: minimum of 160mm height for smallest text

Installation

As the booking holder, you are responsible for the following:

  • Installing your sign on the confirmed start date of your booking;
  • Using staples only to attach your sign to the boards (no bolts or additional structures permitted); and
  • Removing your artwork by the confirmed end date of your booking.

You must be available to remove your by 5pm on the confirmed end date of your booking. If the confirmed end date falls on a weekend, you must remove it by 9.30am on the immediate Monday.
