Let’s Talk 10 – Thank you for your feedback

10-year plan

Thank you to everyone who took time to share their feedback as part of our ‘Let’s Talk 10’ event series.

We held 15 events and received 118 feedback forms, as well as plenty of anecdotal feedback as you chatted with Elected Members about what matters to you when we’re planning for the next 10 years (our Long Term Plan (LTP).

There were some key areas up for discussion, like our investment in transport, sustainability, growth, infrastructure, compliance activities like building or consents, resilience, or the community services on offer like our libraries, pool, arts, culture, and events.

We heard the following messages:

  1. You want to see more investment in:
    • Roads
    • Community events and activities
    • City Centre development
    • Waste management and minimisation
  2. You still value some of the key infrastructure projects that are in the 2021-31 LTP, others are less of a priority now.
  3. Many groups want to continue talking with us including Māori and Iwi, businesses, young people, and Community Kōrero, which is fantastic! We’ll continue to hold these sessions.

Here’s a visual representation of some of your feedback, with more detail below:

  • The three transport projects (Silverstream Bridge, Fergusson/Ward/Whakatīkei intersection, and Fergusson/Gibbons/Main intersection) overall were valued highly by the community.
  • There was mixed support for the Active Mode Transport programme by the community..
  • The remaining two projects (Community Hub and Civic Centre Upgrade) were valued as less of a priority overall by the community,

It was great to get out into our community to hear what matters to you, we really value your feedback. It will help shape our draft plan for the next 10 years (we will bring the draft proposals to you to provide feedback on in 2024 before it’s locked in).

If you have any questions about our 10 year plan, get in touch at letskorero@uhcc.govt.nz.

There are also plenty of opportunities to connect with us, like Mayor Guppy’s monthly hotseat at the library, our Community Kōrero sessions, public forums at council and committee meetings and more. Follow us on Facebook @UpperHuttCityCouncil or keep an eye on the events page on our website.
