Upper Hutt Mayor Wayne Guppy and Acting Chair of Whirinaki Whare Taonga, Zoe Juniper share their sympathies to the whānau and friends of a member of the public who passed away at the facility on Sunday morning as a result of a tragic incident.
“A blessing at Whirinaki Whare Taonga was led by Council's Kaitakawaenga Māori to give spiritual guidance and protection”, says Zoe Juniper.
“Our deepest sympathies go to the whānau and friends at this time and we are here to help in any way we can. Out of respect for the family and to allow them to grieve, we’re not releasing any further information,” says Mayor Guppy.
