On Tuesday 17 August, there will be an Extraordinary Council Meeting for Councillors discuss and agree the Expression of Interest (EOI) for the Infrastructure Acceleration Fund (IAF).

There are four applications being considered for the EOI that will be on the agenda. The timeline has to be such so we can prepare a cohesive application and meet the fund’s EOI deadline of 5pm on 18 August.

Due to the commercial sensitivities contained within the applications, the paper will be covered in the Public Excluded section of the meeting.

One of the applications relates to the possibility of putting a road/infrastructure corridor through the Silverstream Spur, for direct access to the Southern Growth Area.

Also important to note, making an application to the IAF is no guarantee of future work commencing. There are expected to be numerous applications made to the EOI, similar to what happened for the ‘Shovel-Ready Fund’.

If an application is selected, it will have to go through another checkpoint of detailed application process. If selected through that process, further Council decision making processes will need to be followed.

There will not be any decision made regarding the next steps for the Silverstream Spur in the meeting on Tuesday.

Instead, Council will meet on 15 September to discuss a report on the outcome of negotiations with Guildford Timber Company (GTC), in relation to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

As per usual, there will be a Public Forum at the start of this meeting. If you wish to speak at the meeting on 15 September, please register with our Governance team by email at governance@uhcc.govt.nz.

The agenda will be available on our website, two clear working days before the meeting.
