Building processing and inspection delays

With unprecedented levels of building activity in Upper Hutt we are receiving a high number of building consent applications and requests for building inspections. This means on some occasions customers may find that they face delays in consent processing times and slightly longer wait times accessing building inspections.

What we are doing:

• We are maximising staff workload and redeploying resources where we can.
• We are engaging contractors to assist our processing team where we can.
• We are training and upskilling our team.
• We are using contractors for complex inspections.

What can you do to help?

• Ensure building consent applications are complete and provide all supporting documentation prior to uploading to the Simpli portal.
• Please plan ahead, you may need to factor longer wait times into your program for inspections.
