We’re supporting Movin' March, a month-long event run by Greater Wellington to get Upper Hutt tamariki moving more.

The event celebrates active travel, so you’ll see more young’uns walking, cycling, skating, or scooting to and from school.

Active travel helps our tamariki with:

  • physical and mental health
  • decision making
  • independence
  • risk assessment
  • road safety skills

Whilst they’re doing this, it’s really important that we all play our part to help keep them safe on the roads.

Drivers – follow the road rules and watch out for children on their way to and from school.

Parents and whānau – teach your children how to travel to school safely. Check out the parent and whānau’s guide to Safer Journeys for School Children: https://education.nzta.govt.nz/teacher-resources/school-community-partnerships/road-safety-advice-for-families/
