We usually check in with landowners about overhanging vegetation. This year, instead of an official assessment, we just want to take a moment to remind everyone how important it is to trim back shrubs, hedges, and trees.

From 11 April, we’ll be upgrading the water supply pipe (watermain) along Main Street, from Pine Avenue to Wakefield Street. The watermain renewal will address the ongoing issues with leaks along Main Street.
We appreciate this work will have an impact on visitors to the city centre, and on businesses that operate in and around Main Street, so we’re doing all we can to minimise disruption.
We’re going to do the work in four stages. We need to carry out trenching work, which will mostly be through carparks on the Upper Hutt Station side of Main Street. For each stage this also means we’ll need to close the south-bound traffic lane, but footpaths and access to businesses, will remain open.
The entire work is expected to be complete in August.
Timing may vary as work progresses. We’ll keep you informed with update posts, information on our website, and we’re opening a dedicated information space on Main Street.
