We’re in the process of reviewing and updating the commercial and industrial chapters of our District Plan.
This is called Plan Change 54 (PC54) and it aims to make changes to the zones that will promote the City Centre as the main focal point for commercial, community, and recreational activities. PC54 proposes moving from the existing single industrial and two commercial zones in Upper Hutt to a new single industrial and 5 new commercial zones.
The Plan Change mostly reflects the existing land use and development in Upper Hutt’s commercial areas. PC54 will enable us to manage the potential effects of growth and development within the zones, and on the surrounding environment.
The proposed new zones will create changes to what can and can’t be done on commercially-zoned properties. This will have an impact on some properties in Upper Hutt.
We’re still in the drafting stage of this process and want you to be aware of the proposals and have your say. We’ll use your feedback to inform any amendments we make to the proposed changes before we begin the formal plan change process in 2022.
We’ve created a survey on the proposed extents and provisions of the new zones. The survey only takes a few minutes to complete. Go to letskorero.upperhuttcity.com/pc54
This round of feedback closes Friday, 17 December 2021.
