Processing your application
Applications are assessed against the relevant requirements of the Building Act 2004 and associated regulations. This includes checking against the performance requirements of the Building Code (Schedule 1 of the Building Regulations 1992) as all proposed building work must comply with the building code to the extent required by the Act.
Granting your building consent
To grant a building consent we must be satisfied on reasonable grounds that that the provisions of the Building Code would be met if the building work were properly completed in accordance with the plans and specifications that accompanied the application. We are not required to issue consent until fees and levies are paid.
We have 20 working days to process applications (10 days for MultiProof / multiple use approvals). The clock starts on receipt of a complete application and may be suspended for requests for further information. A suspended clock will restart when all information requested has been received.
