Need a hand picking where to take the kids these school holidays? Let us tell you about some of our favourite spots!
Kaitoke is nature’s ultimate playground. Lace up for a bush walk, swim in the river or get the campfire going for the night. Kaitoke is also home to Rivendell where the elves lived in Lord of the Rings.
Jump on the bikes and ride 18km through historic tunnels, across bridges and past waterfalls on your way through breath-taking landscapes along the old rail route between Upper Hutt and Featherston. Wildfinder makes the trip easy with bike hire and a shuttle.
The Birchville Dam is jaw dropping after a rainfall. Challenge the family to carry on up Cannon Point to be rewarded by views of the valley.
Chasing waterfalls? This gentle track guides you through tall rimu, mataī, kahikatea and tawa forest on the way to the waterfall. Remember your camera.
Upper Hutt’s world class adventure play space with a fantasy themed playground, elite skatepark, half basketball court,
flying fox, pump track, musical play area and sand pit. The park is perfect for all abilities with specialist swings and ramp access.
So much better than a zoo! Get up close and personal with wildlife at Staglands, you can even hand-feed the animals.
You’ll find one action-packed experience after another at Daytona in Brewtown. Go-karting, ice skating, laser strike, archery tag, ten pin bowling, trampoline park and an indoor paintball field. What more could you ask for?
Now this is one way to make memories as a family! The only place in Wellington where you can have a go at white water rafting and enjoy untouched nature along the way. We recommend the Grade 2 trip, perfect for families.
The kids will have so much fun zooming and twirling their way around the roller skating rink as they skate circles around each other these school holidays.
Along Fergusson Drive you can hit the slides at Wellington’s best aquatic centre H2O Xtream, catch an exhibition at Whirinaki Whare Taonga.
